Winter Weekend

We were both fortunate enough to have the Martin Luther King holiday off so we decided to get away for the weekend. We went to Lutsen, MN to do some skiing & relaxing to celebrate our January birthdays. Despite the sub-zero temps and brisk winds, we managed to spend several hours on the slopes. It was a fun time.

We stayed at the Caribou Highlands Resort right at the Lutsen Mountain ski area. We were quite impressed with the the amount of development and even the size of the ski area for being located in the midwest. It's not mountain skiing but it's pretty nice.

We enjoyed looking out over Lake Superior from the slopes.

The Poplar River continued to flow in the sub-zero temps.

Great Holiday Times

Our "baby" turned 26 on December 23, so we had a prime rib birthday supper for him since he was home....or dinner depending on what part of the country you are from!! His birthday has always been a kick off of the holidays. Hope you have a good year Benny!

We spent two nights at a townhome at the Arrowwood resort in Alexandria, MN with Dad and Mom Suhumskie, Cal, Eileen and family, John, Anita and family and Ben. Mike, Amanda and Dane and Mike's sister Melodee and husband Hugh and kiddos, Zacahary and Ellie and Mike's brother Mark and his wife Anna and baby Morgan spent a night at Arrowwood as well, so the town home worked great as a gathering place and for mealtime. It's always a good plan to have some cooks like Calvin and Eileen in the bunch! Though you will see a picture of Ben sitting on the kitchen counter there really were plenty of chairs! We had a Chinese gift exchange which was alot of fun. One very exciting piece of information that we learned is that we will be Grandpa and Grandma again. Dane is going to be a big brother the end of June or first days of July.

Dane plays with the boat his mommy used to play with during bathtime.

Mike, Amanda and Dane left on Friday. Soon Dane will be two and can't fly free, so his Daddy and Mommy are seeing how big a box it will take to fly him in!!!!

We have had a very wonderful and busy time during the holidays. It has been great to have time with many from our families.... We seem to have forgotten that we have a camera the last few visitors. Maybe we just don't think of taking pictures of those that are in the "mature" stage of their lives. We really did forget to take our camera along when we were out to Brian and Julie's. We always enjoy seeing them and their growing family...and we love their new cozy home! We also enjoyed some time here at our home with Gary and Diane. We had some great visits, but times have changed without the kids here! We saw the New Year in last night here at home with Al and Pam...just a nice quiet evening together. Thanks to all of you for your visits! Hope you all have a great 2008!!
