Thanksgiving Weekend

We enjoyed a cozy, peaceful Thanksgiving weekend with Ben. The old family room in the basement became the "Kingbenny Music" recording studio for a couple days. It was fun to witness the making of his new song which he plans to release soon.

Ben adds his well known touch of harmonica

Another layer of guitar music...Beautiful!

It was also sweet music to our ears as Ben sat down to the piano again...His mom didn't even have to beg him to practice!!

Forrest was happy to have his buddy Ben home again...they go back a long way!

The Lucky Streak continues in Vegas!!

Last weekend, we made another quick trip to Vegas in search of something special. We didn't even drop a nickel in a machine before we found this little "nugget". But...the tables soon turned and we had no more than arrived there when Dane proceded to steal Grammy's heart!!

Then, he made sure that he stole Grampy's, too!!

Steve enjoyed hiking up the mountain on a couple of occasions. Mike and Amanda's home is the one in the center of the picture. What? You don't see it??

Rub-a-dub! Dane really enjoys playing in the bathtub.

On Saturday, we took a road trip to the China Ranch Date Farm near Tecopa, CA. We all enjoyed "date shakes" except for Dane...He got a plastic spoon but he certainly had a lot of fun with that!!

The date farm is located in a beautiful spring fed oasis. Until you actually drive down the winding road into the valley, you would never guess such a place could exist in the middle of the dessert.

If you look closely, you can see the dry, ripe dates in the bunch. A bunch of dates can consist of anywhere from 600 to 1,700 dates!

We all enjoyed picking and sampling the dates. They certainly are sweet. The skirts are used to protect the ripe dates from birds and insects.

On Sunday afternoon, we enjoyed a train ride on the newly restored Nevada Southern Railway at Boulder City. All restoration and operation is done by volunteers.
